The Massacre at Wolf-359

When the Borg followed the U.S.S. Enterprise all the way back to the Alpha Quadrant following their encounter a couple years earlier after Q launched the ship into the Delta Quadrant in order to show the over confident crew how unprepared they were for what was out there.  They began to mow through all resistance and obstacles laid before them effortlessly.  Upon abducting Captain Picard from the bridge of his own ship and assimilating him into their hive consciousness, turning him into the Borg leader known as Locutus, they now had more of a sense of direction and understanding of the species they were hunting for.  The humans of Sector 001.  Earth.  

Before they could get to the Sol system through, a last stand of 40 Starfleet ships under the command of Admiral J. P. Hanson stood in their way.   The battle did not last long.  

39 starships and over 11,000 lives were lost or assimilated that day as the Borg cut through the unprepared and overconfident fleet.  Wiping them out without taking much, if any, damage at all that couldn't be repaired and adapted to quickly.   

One ship survived, the U.S.S. Saratoga along with Benjamin Sisko and his son.  They were among the very few survivors who witnessed the slaughter and cold menace that was the Borg before they left the field of starship wreckage, continuing on their way to Sector 001.   Believing that nothing could stand in their way.  They were Borg.  Resistance was Futile.  

That was.. Until the crew of the Enterprise returned to face them once more, and they had a plan this time.
